A round of Mafia42 starts with a night attack, then the whole table argues over who the Mafia is. Each player gets one of more than 30 roles, such as Spy or Detective, and uses that role's skill after dark. By day the group debates and votes to lynch a suspect before night returns. Everything runs through chat, so the game rewards persuasion over reflexes. Learning the full role list takes time, and the Wiki page is worth reading first.
