Grand Theft Auto Online is an online-only game, so a connection comes before anything else. Up to 30 players share each session, and the Career Builder lets a new character start as a Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner or Gunrunner. From there, play branches into co-operative Heists, Stunt Races, Adversary Modes and social spaces like car meets. The sheer number of updates can leave a newcomer unsure where to begin.
